Beginning course in conversational and written Spanish for non-native speakers intended for students without previous exposure to Spanish.

Introduction to pronunciation, vocabulary, idioms, grammar, basic composition, and exploration of the cultures of Spain, Latin America and Hispanic

cultures of the US.

Students at the Madera Community College Center and Oakhurst Community College Center may take advantage

of international study programs offered by the college district. The international programs allow students an

opportunity to study in another country while earning transferable college credit, as well as enable them to gain a

first-hand understanding of other regions and cultures of the world.

Denmark:

(not for credit). Study electronics, welding, automotive, construction, culinary arts, or

business at Mercantec Institute in Viborg, Denmark for 2 weeks in a student exchange program.

Summer 2016:

Costa Rica:

Two Nursing courses will be offered: RN 33 - Transcultural Healthcare International and

RN 177 - Culturally Relevant Health Promotion. Both are each 1 unit.

Cuba:

Three courses will be offered in Biology and Economics: BIOL 3 - Introduction to Life Science,

BIOL 47 - Field Biology of Cuba, and ECON 1A - Principles of Macroeconomics.
