Counseling

The Counseling Center provides comprehensive counseling services to assist

students toward a successful college experience. Counselors help promote

studentdevelopmentandsuccessbycoordinatingqualityservicesandprograms

that are focused on students’ needs. Counselors provide the following services

to students:

• Individualized assessment of interest and abilities

• academic advising on appropriate courses and programs of study for a

vocational program, degree or certificate, and/or transfer to a

four-year university

• development of a student educational plan to achieve educational

goals

• assistance with resolving personal issues and adjusting to college life

Counselors are available on a same day basis or by an future appointment

through eSARS student services online appointment system. The Counseling

Center is located in the Student Services building. Regular hours are Monday

Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSP&S)

Disabled Students Programs and Services provides specialized counseling,

support services, and resources to students with temporary or permanent

disabilities. Regular hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Disabled Students Programs and Services is located in the Disabled Students

Programs and Services Building. Accessible parking is available throughout

Learning Disability Services

High Tech Center

Adapted computer equipment is available in the High Tech Center which is

located in the Disabled Students Programs and Services Building. The High

Tech Center offers students with disabilities training, assistance, and resource

informationonhowtouseadaptivecomputertechnologyandassistivesoftware

programs. Regular hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For

computers available in the Library Computer Lab.

Workability III

TheWorkability III program is a collaboration between Reedley College and the

California StateDepartment of Rehabilitation (DOR).Workability III is designed

to assist individualswith disabilitieswith preparing for, finding andmaintaining

gainful employment. Reedley College Workability III aims to assist students,

the Department of Rehabilitation, and the local community through vocational

education, training, counseling, and consistent, direct service. TheWorkability

III program is located in the Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSP&S)

Student Support Services Program (SSS)

The Student Support Services Program is a 100% federally funded TRIO

Program serving Reedley College and the Madera Community College Center.

It is designed to provide enrichment services that will alleviate the educational

and social barriers which prevent students with disabilities from succeeding

at the post-secondary level. Through the delivery of comprehensive academic,

social,andpersonalservices,theStudentSupportServicesProgramwillpromote

and increase the retention and transfer rates of Reedley College’s students

with disabilities. Services include needs assessments, disability management,

specializedtutorials,academicenrichmentmaterials,studystrategies,learning

skills, and social skills development. For more information, contact the SSS

Transition to College Program

The Transition to College Program is composed of counseling services and a

unit course (DEVSER 240). DEVSER 240 is a one unit course designed to assist

students with disabilities in preparing for their initial semester in a community

collegeandnavigationoftheStateCenterCommunityCollegeDistrictcampuses,

resources and accommodations available for students with disabilities. The

course is typically offered during the fall semester. For more information please

EOP&S and CARE

The Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOP&S) is a state funded

program that provides comprehensive support services to first generation

college students who come from low income and educationally disadvantaged

backgrounds. The program serves full-time students and aims to inform and

guide them through the higher education process. Participants are provided

with outreach services, intensive counseling, retention assistance, tutoring,

priority registration, and financial aid. EOP&S students may also qualify for

the CARE program which helps single, head of household parents with meal

cards and cash grants. For more information, please come by our office located

Food Services/Cafeteria

The Tiger Café provides appetizing food in pleasant surroundings to staff and

students. Meals and snacks are available throughout the day. The cafeteria is

open 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Fridays 7:30 a.m. to

4:00 p.m. Hours are subject to changes. Summer hours will vary. For further

Health Services

Health Services provides unlimited office visits, free TB skin testing, limited lab

work (blood sugar, oxygen saturation, pregnancy tests, etc), some dermatology

services, vision, hearing and scoliosis screening, blood pressure screening,

crutches for loan, suture removal, nutritional counseling, smoking cessation

information, health education and promotionmaterials, and accident insurance

for injuries sustained during school activities. Students needing additional

medical care may be referred to local medical providers for further care at

reasonable costs. Medical insurance information is available to students and

their families. Timely health seminars and wellness activities are sponsored

throughout the year. Confidential, professional counseling is also available to

assistinpersonalgrowth,crisisresolution,dailylivingproblems,relationshipand

family issues, and provides a support network for students with more serious

emotionaldisorders.Servicesincludeindividualbrieftherapy,crisisintervention,

group therapy, psychological testing, a referral network, consultation, guest
