EXPLANATION OF COURSES

WORK EXPERIENCE - SPRING 2017

Note: Repetition of Cooperative Work Experience courses is allowable under Title 5, § 55253

COOPERATIVE WORK EXPERIENCE, GENERAL (COTR 19G)

1-6 units in one enrollment period

Students employed on a job that is not directly related to their college major can earn up to a maximum of

six units in one enrollment period. Students must attend an orientation and the employer must agree to

evaluate the student’s performance.

COOPERATIVE WORK EXPERIENCE, OCCUPATIONAL (COTR 19V)

1-8 units: 75 hours of paid employment or 60 hours of unpaid employment per unit per semester

This course is conducted to give the student occupational learning opportunities and career awareness. Students may

earn a total of 16 units in work experience of which only 6 may be in COTR 19G. This is accomplished through

employment (paid or volunteer) providing learning related to the student’s major or educational or occupational goal.

Students may be required to attend an orientation. The student’s employer must agree to participate by assisting in

developing measurable learning objectives, verifying hours worked, meeting with a designated college official and

providing an evaluation of the measurable learning objectives.

SPECIFIC OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAMS

Any student can take COTR 19G or COTR 19V, but some Reedley College programs have their own occupational

classes. Please look to register for these classes under their department. These include:
