CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH CARE INTERPRETER

The Health Care Interpretation Certification Program’s

purpose is to prepare bilingual and bicultural individuals to

develop skills necessary for effective language interpretation

in health care settings, to bridge the cultural gap, to develop

cultural competency and improve linguistic and cultural

communication for health care clients. Interpreters will

utilize these skills in community based organizations to

provide accurate health care information and perform cultural

advocacy as required by Federal law.

Prior to entrance into Health Interpreter Program orientation

and assessment of bilingual skills is required.

CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT

This certificate of achievement will provide students a breadth

of Social Work and Social Welfare knowledge. Students

will be able to become employed in entry level social work

occupations, which offer an occupational career ladder in

the field. Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills in

working within the social work and social welfare agencies,

be able to address social issues; such as poverty, mental illness,

crime, violence, divorce, and drug abuse in our society. The

students will gain intervention skills to address the barriers

within the human service field.

office software.
