Transfer to California State
University (CSU)
Transfer Requirements of California State
University (CSU)
Students who have enrolled in college beyond the summer
following their high school graduation are considered transfer
students and must meet transfer admission requirements.
Students who have completed fewer than 60 CSU transferable
semester college units at the time of transfer are considered
lower division transfer students.
Students who have completed 60 or more CSU transferable
semester college units at the time of transfer are considered
upper division transfer students.
Lower Division Admission Requirements
Transfer students with fewer than 60 semester or 90 quarter
units must have a grade point average of 2.0 (“C”) or better
in all transferable units attempted, be in good standing at the
last college or university attended, and meet any one of the
following eligibility standards:
Transfer Based on Current Admission Criteria:
Satisfy the
freshman admission requirements in effect for the term for
which the application is made;
or
Transfer Based on High School Eligibility:
Satisfied
eligibility as a freshman at the time of high school graduation
and has been in continuous attendance in an accredited college
since high school graduation;
or
Transfer Based on Making up Missed Subjects:
Satisfied
the eligibility index at the time of high school graduation
(combination of grade point average and test scores, if
needed), has made up any missing college preparatory subject
requirements with a grade of “C” or better, and has been in
continuous attendance in an accredited college since high
school graduation.
Note: Due to enrollment pressures, many CSU campuses
do not admit lower division transfers. Some campuses may
require lower division transfer students to complete specific
college coursework as part of their admission.
Upper Division Transfer Students
Students are eligible for admission with 60 or more CSU
transferable semester units (90 quarter units) if they:
• Have a grade point average of 2.00 or better (2.40
for California non-residents) in all transferable college
units attempted.
• Are in good standing at the last college or university
attended, i.e., eligible to re-enroll.
• Have completed or will complete prior to transfer at
least 30 semester units (45 quarter units) of general
education requirements with a grade of “C” or better
in each course. The 30 units must include all of the .
general education requirements in communication in
the English language (English composition, oral
communication, and critical thinking) and at least
one course of at least 3 semester units (4 quarter units)
required in Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning.
Notes: Campuses and/or programs that are designated as
impacted have additional admission criteria. Impacted
campuses/programs result when the number of CSU
eligible applicants received in the initial application filing
period is greater than the number of students that can be
accommodated by the campus or major. We recommend
seeking assistance from a Clovis Community College
counselor.
There are limitations on the number of CSU transferable
work experience credits accepted. These vary by CSU
campus.
California State University
Transfer Course List (CSU)
Clovis Community College courses numbered 1 through 99
are CSU transferable.
General Education Requirements for
CSU Certification
The CSU General Education-Breadth program allows
California community college transfer students to fulfill
lower-division general education requirements for any CSU
campus prior to transfer. This curriculum provides an
alternative to the IGETC requirements and to the campus-
specific GE-Breadth requirements. It is important to note that
CSU GE-Breadth certification is not a minimum admission
requirement, nor does completion guarantee admission to the
campus or program of choice.
