Dream Act (AB540) The Counseling Center is here to provide information and academic counseling to new and continuing undocumented students at Clovis Community College. The California Dream Act is actually a combination of three bills: Assembly Bill (AB) 540, AB 130, and AB 131. Together, these bills allow undocumented and nonresident documented students who meet certain provisions to be treated the same as resident students. Combined, these Assembly Bills constitute what is called the California Dream Act, and they allow undocumented AB 540 students to:  pay the resident fees at public colleges and universities,  apply for and receive private scholarships funded through public universities, state-administered financial aid, university grants, community college fee waivers and state-sponsored Cal Grants. Educational Enrichment Students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades who can benefit from advanced scholastic or vocational work can enroll in college courses and receive college credit through the Educational Enrichment Program. Exceptions to this policy are outlined in the Educational Enrichment Application. A student may qualify for the program with a cumulative high school GPA of at least a 2.5 (Juniors and Seniors) and a 3.0 (Sophomores), approval from the high school principal, a high school counselor, and a parent. Not all courses listed in the Clovis Community College schedule are available to the Educational Enrichment student. Generally, courses of a remedial nature, courses for which failing grades were earned, and courses required for high school graduation do not meet the intent and spirit of the program. Students must meet all the necessary prerequisites for any course in which they wish to enroll. Students admitted to the program are treated as new students each semester attended; and are eligible to register during the open enrollment period. For more information, contact the Counseling Office at (559) 325-5230. EOPS Program Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) is a state-funded support program for students. The program provides assistance to students that is "over, about and in addition to" series received by a traditional student. Examples of typical services include: First Tier Priority Registration, Specialized Counseling, Book Vouchers, Cash Grants and Transfer Assistance. Students who have financial and educational needs are eligible for EOPS. CAFYES (Next Up) CAFYES is a support program for current or former foster youth who were in care at the age of 16 years old or later. Students must qualify for EOPS to enroll in program and take a minimum of 9 units. CARE Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education is a program within EOPS that is for single head of household students (with one child under age 14) who are receiving cash aid. These students receive all the EOPS services in addition to more specialized support. Health and Psychological Services Health Services and Psychological Services are integrated programs at Clovis Community College. We believe in a holistic approach to health.
