COURSE DESCRIPTION: A course involving the fundamentals and techniques of basketball, involving 1 on 1, 3 on 3, 5 on 5. PREREQUISITES: None
COURSE
OBJECTIVES:
*For the student to participate in, and demonstrate the use of basketball techniques and skills in various basketball games and activities.
*For the student to increase his or her understanding of the strategies involved in the game of basketball.
*To enhance the student's interest in the game of basketball, and or to enhance the student’s interest in developing a plan of lifetime fitness, which includes participating in basketball.
*To expose the student to the rules, regulations, and history of basketball.
COURSE
OUTCOMES
Students will have the ability to demonstrate proper shooting technique, along with having the capability to recognize basic basketball fundamentals. Students will also possess a basic understanding of the rules, scoring, and strategies used in the game of basketball. Students will assess basketball as a life-long activity.

CLASS
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Be on time. Arrive late, do no plan on participating.
2. Dress appropriately. Athletic shoes and athletic or workout apparel; SHOES MUST BE TIED
3. Be courteous with classmates, other classes, and instructors. As we will work in teams, cooperation is paramount!!
4. Inform instructor of any preexisting medical conditions. Report all injures to the instructor!!! SAFETY IS A MAJOR CONCERN AT ALL TIMES!! Please inform instructor of any wet or slick spots on the floor.

5. I strongly suggest you bring a water bottle or sports drink.
6. I strongly urge you to bring a towel for hygiene purposes!!
GRADING PROCEDURES:
*Three written assignments, 20 points each
*Three skills evaluations, 20 points each
*40 points tournament participation
*90% and above= A; 80-89% = B; 70-79%= C; 60-69%= D; 59% and below= F.

IMPORTANT DATES THIS SEMESTER:
January 16 (M): Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday—Campus closed
February 17-20(F-M):
Presidents’ Day
March 10 (F): Nine-week drop deadline for full-length course. (Letter grades assigned after this date.)
April10-14: Spring recess. No classes held, however campus is open.
May 15-19: Final Exams week.
