It includes recording and reporting of business transactions with a focus on the accounting cycle, and the application of generally accepted accounting principles for the preparation of financial statements. Students will be introduced to the economic aspects of agriculture and their implications to the agricultural producer, consumers and the food system. Students will also discuss the management principles encountered in the day-to-day operation of an agricultural enterprise as they relate to the decision-making process. Emphasis will be placed on accounting for farm income taxes, Social Security contributions and employee payroll records.
