Emphasis will be placed on the interactions between maturational processes and environmental factors. Students will observe children, evaluate individual differences, and analyze characteristics of development at various stages according to developmental theories. Various reading and reporting strategies are developed and improved for different styles of academic writing. Instruction emphasizes reading as a problem-solving process. This course should be taken in a student’s first or second semester. Students are recommended to take this course concurrently with a composition course (English 125 or English 252).
