All classes emphasize multicultural and gender issues. A sociology major usually transfers to a four-year institution to complete a Bachelor’s Degree. Because of the broad scope of subject matter, sociology is excellent preparation for a wide range of career paths, including teaching, journalism, law, business, communications, nonprofit management, corrections/law enforcement, social work, counseling, urban planning, public service, and politics. Students will acquire the Spanish language in a culturally rich environment and will possess the receptive skills (listening and reading) and the productive skills (speaking and writing) necessary to achieve communicative competence in order to pursue more advanced study of Spanish at a CSU campus.
